The Ravens at the Tower of London

England was the best trip ever, I learned many things, and one of them was a superstition about ravens.

It is said that the ravens which still reside at the Tower of London have been there for centuries. One of them even having lived up to the age of 44. Currently there are 6, and they even have spare ones, even though there have been points where there has been only 2. Now you may wonder – what is the big deal about ravens? Well, they believed that if all the ravens were to leave the tower, one of the walls would collapse.

At one point they wanted to get rid of the ravens because they were being a nuisance, but then they heard about the superstition and wanted to make sure they stayed – in order for the white tower, monarchy, and the ENTIRE kingdom to survive. So they hired a bird-trainer, and the birds still remain there.

At first when I saw the raven I had no idea it had any special significance – but then I started seeing more of them and that’s when a guide told us about them. I think superstitions are pretty interesting and it just shows how gullible or religious people can be.

ACEO- Raising awareness for Endangered Species

I found a blog names ACEO. It stands for Art Card Editions and Originals. What they are doing is raising awareness for endangered species by making art of the animals and selling them on Ebay and then donating all the money to a charity to help that animal survive. I think this blog is great because it not only raises awarness but benefits the donators. Therefore those who don’t usually donate money to charity will also donate if they buy a piece of art from the bloggers. At the bottom of the page it also had an advertisement for signing up for an email address (yourname@planetsave.com) which helps save the rainforest if you sign up, which I think is pretty cool. I just signed up for an email address and I am now figuring out hwo to use it. If you would like to sign up you can go here. I am not sure how it works yet though and if it can send emails to all addresses or only within the “community”.

A quote that I live by… usually
